Not a good time to cut back on the drink!!!

After playing a few games of footy and training again at Taekwondo I started thinking about getting serious about training again which means cutting back on alcohol, now don't get me wrong im no piss head or anything but I don't mind a few cold onces on the weekend. So I go away for a few days r&r with me mate Gav and sink back a few and I decide that will do for awhile.....

Then I come back home and the following week is the Grand final week, well have to have a few during the big game....... The following week is the North Ballarat Best and Fairest night and we decide to go out afterward so a few more cans end up in my hand! At this stage I think ok 2 weeks off the wagen its ok I can get back on... then I look into the future.

This weekend is Melissa's birthday so I guess I might have a few to celebrate, the follow weekend is Carly's birthday so again it would be rude of me not to have one or two, then before I know it it will be my birthday and a few other friends birthday then we are into December! the worst month for it!! oh well there is always my new years resolution. Nah I will have to just work a bit harder!

Good Old Collingwood Forever

Even though the pies were beaten last friday night by the cats by only 5 points, I was still proud to be a collingwood supporter! growing up in the 90's following so many bad losses its great to see the club back in the finals and rocking the interstate boat! It would of been unfair if Geelong did get beaten by a side that finished 6th but I'm looking forward to next year as the group can only get better with so many first year players in this year. Bring on 2008.

Good luck to Geelong its great to see a Victorian team back playing in the last Saturday in September and I hope they smash Port!

North Ballarat

From my last report on the roosters they some how came back from 60 + points down against Bendigo and ended up winning by 37 points, a massive 97pt tune around and a chance at Sandringham in the Semi Finals.

North Ballarat: 21 . 22 . 148
Bendigo: 16 . 15 . 111

Semi Final
North were not given any chance at winning this game, the roosters had not played well enough to be a top 4 side but if they did the impossible and beat sandringham they would do just that. Sandy had won the last 3 VFL Grand Finals, a bit like the Brisbane lions a few years ago and are after their 4th so when the roosters were in front by 3 quarter time everyone took notice of the team from Ballarat. If Sandy kicked straight things could of been different but bad kicking is bad football.

North Ballarat: 16 . 14 . 110
Sandringham: 12 . 21 . 93

Now North are into the Prelim against Geelong who are just as strong in the VFL as they are in the AFL so another good challenge for the boys, lets see how they good. At Port Melbourne Oval, Saturday the 15th starting at 1.10pm or watch on ABC.

Training With Mr. Parks

On the weekend I trained for the first time in months! It was with one of the highest men in Taekwondo Mr. Parks from Korea. There were around 70 students from MTC learning from the man who made most of the things we know do in the martial art.

I did learn a few things on the day but it was just great to get back to doing something as I do miss it but have no where to train at the moment in Ballarat. It did the job though I am now re motivated to start focusing on my Taekwondo again.

Looking for Work.

In one week 3 people have left my gym I work at, Spartans. With only 11 staff taking 3 out in a short amount of time can not be good. One left because he had enough and we knew about that for awhile, one got the sack because she was not fitting in and the other left because the other person got the sack!

This is great for me as I get more hours!! it's to bad uni keeps getting in the way otherwise I could just about be full time and blogging more often, speaking of which I better get back to work!

Round 16

My second game for 2007 and my last for this year thank god for that!!! even though I've only got back into the swing of it, I now know how important it is to have a good pre-season. This time the lose wasn't as massive as last weeks. Royal Park 4.4.28 to Avoca 22.19.151, and we managed to end Avoca's finals hopes they needed to beat us by more then 25 goals, only had 7 goals to spear. lol.

Well that's it for me playing footy this year and I will be looking for a club to play for next year if anyone has any suggestions.... besides Richmond or Carlton...... but plenty of footy still to come, good luck to North Ballarat playing an elimination final against Bendigo on Saturday in the VFL and of course go the mighty pies!!!

Royal Park

I pulled on the footy boots last weekend, playing for a Maryborough team, Royal Park Reserves. I played ok since I last played over 8 years ago with Heathcote under 15's. The team lost to Maldon 29.18.192 to Royal Park 4.6.30. Not the best score line but we did play ok with no interchange and 7 playing for us from the under 17's. I even got a few kicks and handballs, see how I go this weekend.

Living on res.

Last week I went to a get together with some of Mel's class mates at city res and thought to my self how fun it would be to have lots of late nights, party lots, drink lots and not get much study done....

I'm glad I didn't get into res when I started at uni otherwise I think I would still be in my first year and a lot poorer then I already I'm! great experience but you have to be a special person to get through it alive!

V8's Round 1

Congrats to Todd Kelly who drives for the Holden Racing Team, He managed to walk away from the opening round of the V8 Supercars in Adelaide on top of the Championship points while his brother Rick Kelly who drives for Toll HSV won the second race ahead of Todd. There was a lot of nervous Holden supports this weekend as a lot of the Holden guys are driving brand new, never been tested VE commodores so to end up with a Holden 1 - 2 was awesome!

And all the Ford guys said we would have nothing and Rick didn't deserve to win last years Championship well I think he just proved to a lot of people he is a fast driver and when Craig Lowndes was went to challenge Rick this round he did not even come close finishing out side the top ten.

Results Race 2:

1. Rick Kelly - Holden
2. Todd Kelly - Holden
3. James Courtney - Ford
4. Russell Ingall - Ford
5. Jamie Whincup - Ford
6. Steven Johnson - Ford
7. Mark Skaife - Holden
8. Steven Richards - Ford
9. Will Davison - Ford
10. Garth Tander - Holden.

Weddings

Last week my Aunt and Uncle were meant to be getting married but as my Uncle passed away the family spent the weekend together. I was very worried about the day as it would be a sad one but as the day drew closer I realised that we should still celebrate this love that two people had for each other and how lucky they both were to find each other and they made each other so very happy.

Do people have to be 'married' to each other to be married??

I don't think so anymore if two people are truly in love with each other then why do they then need a piece of paper to prove that's how they feel. I'm sure if you have the time go and get married if that's what you both want but it shouldn't change the feelings you have for each other.

I looked up to my Uncle as he was everything I wanted to be, he had great moral ethics, he was strong, he was honest with himself and with people close to him, he was smart, he was a great Aussie bloke and when he found my Aunty he was the happiest person alive which I'm sure would of been more important to him then anything else.

My Aunty, my Mum and Dad are the most strongest people that I know, with what they have all been through shows just what people can go through, with so much pain and hurt the human body somehow holds up to it all. Look after each other, everyone out there!

First Week Of Uni

I have some how manged to get through my first week of year 2 in Human Movement! I'm enjoying it at the moment but of course i have just started so lets hope it continues. I'm majoring in Sport Management so a lot of my subjects are finance and accounting and management of sport organisation which i do enjoy but when i tell people what I'm doing it does sound a bit dry... but i will have the last laugh at the end of my course when 100 people are going for the one job and I'm only fighting against 20 to 30 people.

Also this week i have started training in Taekwondo again, Mel found a nice little club a few weeks ago and so once i got off work we had a look and it was awesome, its so good to train again and work up a sweat plus I'm learning new things which is always good.

Poker night started again last Wednesday night at my old house with Trav and Jase with the new housemates, Amy (and her friend), and Shell but she didn't play. It was the fullest I have ever seen the house at one stage there were 10 people in the house! Jase again dominated poker but Trav and I took some lollies from the girls, since we play with lollies, its a lot safer then money, and they were still learning how to play!! Hopefully the house will again be full for Jase's Birthday this weekend, Happy Birthday!

O' Week!!!

This week is O week for most students starting or returning to Uni and this year has been a big one for Uni of Ballarat!

I might start off by bagging little Johnny Howard, because of the new changes made last year where it is no longer compulsory to be a member of the association students have to pay when they join up on the day which means long lines and not a lot of movement anywhere! so before any fun was had we all had to line up for at least 2 hours before we could get out of the place. And for the people that did not join up this year maybe you should as you get a lot out of it and it would be nice to prove Johnny wrong about people not wanting to join!!

Monday night was band night where Evermore dropped in for a visit. They were so awesome i didn't mind a lot of there songs on radio but it would never get me turning up my radio if ya know what I mean but after hearing them live gave me a new appreciation for the band I hope they continue to write and sing songs cos they truly are a good thing for NZ (Aussies have probably already calmed them??)

Tuesday night was the movie night and they showed 'Kenny'. It is a funny movie that most Australian will enjoy I recommend this movie for a little funny night in. That was pretty much my O week which is a nice way of easing into going back to uni for my 2nd year which I am looking forward to. What did other people do for O week??

I'm Back for 2007!!!

Here we go for another year and it has come so fast!!! My last blog was a long time ago so I have been up to a fair bit.

In early December My Uncle was in a car accident where he lost his life as my close friends would know, but I do want to put out there that everyone should be very safe and careful on the roads and look after each other as life is to short.

My Christmas was good but it is very tough having 2 lots of family's to get to in the one day with my family and Melissa's family but after spending most of the day in the car we managed to have a good Christmas.

New Years Eve was a differnet matter!! 2005's NYE was rather bad as my mate, Gavin and I decided to do a road trip from Heathcote to Alboury and rock the night hard! Well when we got there it was stinking hot and not much of a night life. So this year was going to be bigger and better and it was decided to stay closer to home so since I'm already in Ballarat we thought that would be a good enough place to go so Myself, Mel, Gav, Claire and Trav hit the town but the town turned and hit us back! most places shut and no fire works but at least the company was good! Thanks guys. Anyone got a good spot for the next New year???

The Holiday for this year was in Torrumburry on the murry which was great, Melissa's family has a boat called Heathen, he goes really fast and I managed to knee board which for me is a big effort, it was nice to get away from at all and relax. But before I know it i will be back in my thongs and note pad and off to uni for my 2nd year.

R.I.P Uncle Ross.
